If you're wondering how much to solicit for your 'ask,' or how to find more and better donors, look no further.

ASK Consulting is a development research consultancy that has five years of experience assisting the capital campaign and annual fund needs of land trusts, advocacy groups, youth services nonprofits, educational institutions and other organizations.   Our areas of consulting include:

  • individual donor profiles: thorough and comprehensive, our profiles provide insight and meaning about donor inclination and giving capacity; our forte is the financial and family wealth aspects of prospects; we provide a giving capacity range in each profile to guide the 'ask'

  • external wealth screenings: we're familiar with the leading screening companies; we will help with prep, execution and follow-through; ask us for a free, cost-effective screening estimate

  • data mining: ask about our own unique approach that is built upon a database-growth strategy

  • database issues: adapting new or existing software packages to incorporate donor research data

  • donor research training and research shop audits

  • custom research projects (i.e., list research, foundation research, new prospect lists, and more)

Ethics

We take pride in our work and our commitment to preserving the trust of our clients and the trust they have with their constituencies. We follow the letter and the spirit of the Code of Ethics of the prospect research community's professional association (APRA) and also the Donor Bill of Rights.  We only use publicly available information and exempt bankruptcy, divorce and probate records from our profile work for ethical reasons.

Our experience

Andrew Kishner, principal and founder of ASK Consulting, entered the prospect research field in 2001 after obtaining his Masters in Finance from a leading European business school.   He gained extensive prospect research experience working at a diverse range of New England-based nonprofits and later consulting for nonprofit clients and small to large fundraising consulting firms up and down the East Coast.   A traveler and avid researcher in his personal time as well, he takes pride in having visited the reference sections of academic and public libraries in over 15 states - and growing - in the United States over the past few years.
